Michael  Michael Livingston
  ACSKG Assistant Guide

Michael brings a rich background to his work with Evolution Guide School.  He grew up in the southeastern United States with a love of the outdoors, which he attributes to his grandfather.  After college, and before moving across the country to make a home in Oregon, he worked for nine years as a teacher and a carpenter.  In Oregon, he attended law school and had a distinguished 29-year legal career in state government service, first as an Assistant Attorney General, then as a juvenile court judge and staff counsel for the Oregon Judicial Department.

Since the mid-1990's, when he built the kayak that he still paddles, Michael's true calling has been sea kayaking.  He has explored ever more remote regions of the Pacific Northwest and continues to learn, sometimes the hard way, from his accumulated experiences.

Michael has paddled with Gord on numerous tours, expeditions and courses, including several Outer Coast Expeditions and Evolution Guide School courses.
Michael is uniquely adept at recognizing and articulating what it means to develop and maintain a "guide's state of mind."
